HEL has launched the Subsieve Autosizer, a flexible automated unit for powder size characterisation using air permeability in industries such as pharmaceuticals and metal powder coatings.
The HEL Subsieve Autosizer (SAS) generates the same Fisher number as the no-longer-manufactured Fisher Subsieve Sizer, acting, in this sense, as a direct replacement.
However, it is a complete redesign that works with a touch-screen computer interface and digital electronics to automatically generate data that can be utilised by various packages for analysis purposes.
The operation of the SAS has recently been altered with two main objectives in mind.
The first is greater flexibility - this means the unit enables test procedures that can differ from the formal ASTM method.
The second objective was to speed up the procedure so that more tests can be performed in a day; calibration of the SAS is now only necessary every few days.
HEL's SAS is said to deliver high-quality data that is repeatable, less user-dependent and fully documented.
In addition, all this is done faster than the traditional manual technique.
