Thermo Fisher Scientific is offering the Macherey-Nagel Nucleospin Tri-prep kit for the rapid parallel isolation of DNA, RNA and protein using a single column.
Eliminating the need to split valuable samples for separate extractions ensures a faster, more convenient methodology to generate cross-functional genomic data from a single biological sample.
Nucleospin Tri-prep is ideal for gene expression and siRNA studies that require quantification of targets at the transcriptional and translational level, and are often hampered by small sample size.
It avoids the need for splitting such samples for separate extraction procedures.
The method is also suitable for use in genotyping and transgenic organism experiments, and can be used with a range of sample types, including cultured cells, tissue, bacteria, yeasts and plants.
The Nucleospin Tri-prep kit contains all the reagents, filters and columns required to perform the parallel isolation of DNA, RNA and protein.
Following cell lysis and filtration (through Nucleospin filters provided), the nucleic acids and proteins are separated by centrifugation of the lysate through the Nucleospin Tri-prep columns.
The nucleic acids are bound to the silica membrane in the column while the protein element is recovered in the column flow-through.
RNA and DNA are then isolated by sequential elution from the column.
Processed samples result in high yields of DNA and RNA with the purity required for immediate use in downstream applications.
The integrity and purity of the resulting RNA can be further enhanced with the use of rDNase (provided) to remove any residual DNA.
Isolated proteins are immediately suitable for quantification, SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.
