Laser Components has formed a partnership with Picoquant to develop photon counting modules that are claimed to achieve a quantum efficiency of more than 70 per cent in the red region.
These photon counters also offer a higher quantum efficiency in the blue spectral range than other modules on the market, according to Laser Components.
The Count series is based on a silicon Geiger-mode APD developed specifically for this series, which represents the heart of the Count module.
Starting in October 2010, standard modules are available with dark count rates ranging from 20 to 250 counts.
Modules with less than 10cps (counts per second) are available upon request.
These modules either come with an FC connection for optical fibres that have a core diameter of up to 105um or as a free-beam module.
