Bioo Scientific has launched the Maxsignal Zeranol Elisa kit, which offers a rapid method to screen cereals, dried meat, fish, feed, milk, urine and seed for contamination with zeranol.
Zeranol is a synthetic non-steroidal growth hormone that is derived from naturally occurring zearalenone, a mycotoxin found in corn, barley, wheat hay and oats infected with the Fusarium fungus.
Zeranol is approved for use as a growth promoter in livestock, including beef cattle, in the US; however, its use is banned in the European Union and Canada.
The Maxsignal Zeranol Elisa kit offers highly reproducible and sensitive detection of zeranol, with a detection limit of 0.1ppb.
The rapid sample preparation protocol can be completed in as little as 10 minutes with a recovery rate of greater than 80 per cent.
The kit includes all required reagents, including standards, plus a pre-coated, 96-well breakaway strip plate.
