YMC can now offer its YMC Gel Chiral NEA in preparative particle sizes and large bulk quantities up to 200kg/lot for preparative applications.
Chirality has become very important in the production of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and related products, due to the dramatically different pharmacology the various optical isomers can present, ranging from no activity through to undesirable effects, to having potentially catastrophic and sometimes life-threatening adverse effects.
This has led to the development of highly efficient chiral stationary phases (CSP) for analytical and preparative scale separations.
YMC Gel Chiral NEA is compatible with aqueous and organic solvents and is suitable for both reversed-phase and normal-phase separations, as well as for SMB and SFC purification of polar pharmaceutical compounds.
It is also useful for the development and scale-up of chiral purification processes.
The CSP consists of a methacrylate-(a-naphthyl) amine copolymer bonded to ultra-pure wide pore YMC silica.
As a result of the covalent phase bonding, YMC Gel Chiral NEA is compatible with all commonly used mobile phases and shows excellent column durability, according to YMC.
S versions of the CSP are available to provide the facility to invert the elution order of pairs of enantiomers, allowing for easy fractionation by elution of small peaks before the major peak, which may otherwise be hidden under the tail of the major peak.
YMC Gel Chiral NEA is scalable from analytical to large-scale separations.
The CSP is available in 5um and 10um particle size in prepacked columns, while the 10um material is also available in bulk for use in dynamic axial compression columns, in lot sizes up to 200kg.
Larger particle sizes for SMB applications are available on request.
In addition, scout columns are available for convenient method development.
YMC Gel Chiral NEA is a suitable tool for chiral purifications from bench to production scales.
