Phidgets has released the 1045 - Phidget Temperature Sensor IR, which provides non-contact temperature measurements from -70 to 380C.
The thermometer is factory calibrated and connects directly to a computer's USB port.
Applications: sensing and measuring surface temperatures without surface contact; alarming alert for over-temperature conditions; temperature sensing element for residential, commercial and industrial building air conditioning; human or animal presence detection; movement detection; body-temperature measurement.

Users can write programs in Visual Basic, VB.NET, C#, C/C++, Flash/Flex, Java, Labview, Matlab, Actionscript 3.0 and Cocoa.
Phidgets also provides programming examples for all its products to help programmers write their own programs.
