Alfa Aesar has announced the opening of its Synmax fine-chemicals production facility in the city of Yantai in the Shandong Province of China.
A joint venture between Alfa Aesar and its Chinese partner, the Alfa Aesar Synmax production plant is designed to meet the current and growing needs of Alfa Aesar's fine-chemicals customers throughout the world.
Operating on a 25,000m2 site, Alfa Aesar Synmax features a kilo-scale lab and a production-scale pilot plant.
The kilo lab adds significantly to Alfa Aesar's capacity in lab-scale production of fine and specialty chemicals.
Utilizing 60 bench-top hoods and 18 walk-in hoods, the kilo lab team employs a range of chemical expertise in producing novel building blocks, screening compounds and intermediates.
Operating eight reactors up to 2,000 litres in capacity, the pilot plant utilises specialised equipment for distillation and low-temperature chemistry.
It is supported by equipment and physical plant services, including a fully equipped analytical lab, centralised power and vacuum systems, and a solar-powered hot-water system.
All treatment regulations are strictly adhered to and the environmental, health, safety and security procedures are calibrated to the Johnson Matthey global standards.
