Windmill Software has announced the Windmill 7 data-acquisition software suite, which is suitable for collecting readings from instruments such as gas analysers, scales, titrators and sonar meters.
The software, which is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP, lets users read and control up to 10 laboratory instruments over RS232, RS422, RS485 and Modbus.
It includes applications to chart and log data, control outputs, monitor the com port and send data directly to other programs, such as Excel.
With a flexible approach to extracting data values, Windmill is suitable for collecting readings from the majority of serial instruments that can be plugged into the computer's com port.
These include laboratory scales, particle analysers, titrators, fluorometers, data loggers, gyro compasses, motion sensors, gas analysers, pH transmitters, power meters, GPS receivers, and sonar and conductivity meters.
Users are able to mix and match equipment from many different manufacturers in many combinations.
For example, serial devices from AandD, Bruel and Kjaer, Denver, Fisher, Furuno, Garmin, Horiba, Mettler Toledo, Motorola, Paroscientific, Patton, Phytron, Quantum Logic, Quest Scientific, Sartorius, Siemens and Texas Instruments have all been handled by Windmill.
Many channels of data can be accepted from each instrument.
Windmill 7 is offered at an introductory price of GBP50 - a 65 per cent discount on older versions of the software.
Technical support for life is included in the price, and there is a money-back guarantee if the software doesn't live up to expectations.
