Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the enhanced Thermo Scientific ICAP 6200 inductively coupled optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES).
The ICAP 6200 ICP-OES now incorporates a wider wavelength range of 175-847nm.
This enables users to measure a broader range of analytes during multi-element analyses and access more sensitive wavelengths for an improved analyte detection capability.
The ICAP 6200 ICP-OES is a simultaneous, dual-view instrument that provides a low-cost alternative to flame atomic absorption (Flame AA).
The instrument is designed to provide a simple, multi-element analysis solution for laboratories that perform routine analyses of up to 100 samples a day.
With its enhanced specifications, the ICAP 6200 can now measure sulphur as part of a multi-element method in addition to the most sensitive mercury, thallium, carbon, tin, phosphorous, arsenic and iodine wavelengths.
Enhanced analytical performance is combined with design features that reduce running costs and simplify operation, making the ICAP 6200 ICP-OES suitable for first-time users of the technique.
The ICAP 6200 ICP-OES is designed for a variety of applications, including food and consumer safety, environmental, mining and WEEE/RoHS testing.
The instrument features an optimised gas distribution system to minimise gas consumption and reduce running costs.
These cost-saving features include a torch design that reduces plasma gas consumption and an optimised plasma interface gas flow that consumes one litre per minute.
The compact ICAP 6200 ICP-OES requires minimal bench space and ensures strong signal stability, analyte detection and a wide dynamic range.
The instrument includes a range of pre-loaded method templates, developed to enable protocol-compliant sample analysis and unlimited access to a new dynamic method library, hosted online.
These templates complement the pre-optimised sample introduction specifications of the instrument, enabling simple, consistent operation and powerful analytical performance for users at any level.
For more on how ICP-OES technology can be used to enhance productivity and detection limits, Thermo Fisher Scientific has created an on-demand webinar entitled 'AA overworked, high-specification ICP overkill - what is the solution?'.
It covers the merits of the ICAP 6200 ICP-OES as a low-cost alternative to AA.
