Elga Process Water has supplied a second Centra R200 water purification system to Serco Technical Consulting Services to provide high-purity water for materials testing.
The unit has been installed at Serco's Risley laboratory near Warrington.
Serco provides a range of science- and engineering-based services that help maintain a safe operating environment across the nuclear, defence and rail sectors.
The water treatment system comprising a Centra R200 with two service deionisation (SDI) cylinders will provide high-purity water needed for experiments run in the company's corrosion laboratories.
The Centra R200's reverse osmosis module removes more than 90 per cent of dissolved minerals and more than 99 per cent of organics and bacteria from the Risley mains water.
The resulting 'permeate' is delivered into the Centra R200's integral 350-litre storage tank from which the treated water is continuously pumped through the two SDI cylinders operating in the series.
This 'polishes' the water to the required 10megohm-cm resistivity.
Water quality is monitored between the two cylinders and, when required, these are exchanged for fresh cylinders.
