Eppendorf's Centrifuge 5424 R for molecular and biological research laboratories has been recognised for design excellence in the life science and medicine category at the Red Dot Awards 2011.
The Centrifuge 5424 R is a compact, refrigerated 24-place microcentrifuge that features low access height and near-silent operation - even without the rotor lid.
There are four different rotors available, including a kit rotor to avoid tearing of spin columns with open tube lids, and users can choose between rotary control knobs or a keypad.
Using the Fasttemp function, a quick pre-cooling of the centrifuge from 21C to 4C in eight minutes is possible.
Additionally, a temperature range of -10C to +40C and maximum speed of 21,130xg (15,000rev/min) suit applications such as DNA/RNA handling and pelleting of cells, membranes and particles (for example, beads).
The Centrifuge 5424 R has been developed to meet the latest emission and ecological requirements.
