Vapourtec's cooled flow reactor range for applications ranging from organometallic chemistry to liquid/gas reactions with ozone has recently been upgraded.
The key advantages of the Vapourtec system over systems based on external chillers or refrigeration equipment, according to the company, are: it's compact, increasing the overall system footprint by less than 30 per cent; it's inexpensive; it's fast to change temperatures; it allows two cooled reactors to be operated at two different sub-ambient temperatures; it's fully integrated with the rest of the R Series platform The cooled tube reactor also offers essential features such as: precooling of reagents; cooled mixer; and optional precooled inline quench.
Like all reactors using the Vapourtec forced convection principle, the cooled system offers totally even temperatures throughout the reactor with no hot or cold spots and temperature is measured at the reactor wall for better than +/-1deg accuracy.
The cooled column system permits temperatures down to -60C for packed bed reactors in Omnifit glass columns, while allowing full visibility of the entire column contents.
