SANYO has expanded its offering of dual-cooling -86C freezers with the MDF-U700VX, an upright 728-litre model that is said to provide maximum sample security for research and clinical samples.
SANYO said that with two independent refrigeration systems, its dual-cooling freezers maintain a reliable and uniform -86C ultra-low temperature environment; if one cooling system suffers an unexpected failure, the other circuit will keep samples safely at around -70C until service can be arranged.
This protects valuable samples and prevents the inconvenience and expense of out-of-hours callouts in the event of a failure in one of the refrigeration systems.
These features make the MDF-U700VX suitable for storing high-value samples in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, stem cell research and regenerative medicine, tissue banks and blood transfusion centres, and other clinical and biomedical research facilities.
The MDF-U700VX has a capacity of 728 litres without taking up extra space; this is achieved through SANYO's VIP Plus high-efficiency vacuum insulation, which reduces energy use and provides typically 24 per cent more storage capacity compared with a conventionally insulated freezer with the same footprint.
The dual-cooling unit also features Eco Mode, which is designed to optimise compressor operation to match the freezer's running conditions and minimise energy use.
Efficient long-term operation of the freezer is facilitated by the filter-less condenser design, which is said to eliminate the need for routine filter cleaning.
The central door-mounted LCD display panel provides intuitive programming of set points and clear confirmation of freezer status.
An on-board data-logging function allows the operator to check recent freezer performance.
Other features include alarms, a vacuum release port for smooth door opening, and quiet operation.
The MDF-U700VX is certified as a Class IIa Medical Device (93/42/EEC and 2007/47/EC).
