Corning has announced the Hyperstack cell culture vessel, which features a multi-layered design that uses Corning's gas-permeable-film technology.
The company claims that Hyperstack delivers greater than 2.5 times more cells in the same volumetric footprint compared with current stacked-plate products.
The increased surface area enables researchers to produce more cells from the same cell population and reduce variability; save space and labour by using fewer vessels; and increase cell output without adding people, clean room suites or incubators.
The Hyperstack vessel is the latest advancement in Corning's High Yield Performance (HYPER) platform and is currently available in 12- and 36-layer vessels.
The Hyperstack-12 has a 6,000cm2 growth area and the Hyperstack-36 has an 18,000cm2 growth area.
A 120-layer vessel with 60,000cm2 of growth area will be available in 2012.
