Don Whitley Scientific has now produced a total of 1,000 Whitley Automated Spiral Plater (WASP) systems - claimed to be a proven solution for the standardised enumeration of micro-organisms.
The WASP, routinely used in microbiology laboratories, helps to simplify the manual and automatic counting of spiral plates as an exact sample volume is applied to each plate in a standardised pattern.
Incubation space requirements are said to be reduced as only one third of the plates used in conventional methods are required.
For improved functionality, Don Whitley Scientific has developed a self-adjusting turntable to ensure the WASP can accommodate a variety of plate sizes.
