Stratophase presented a talk entitled 'Optical microchip sensors for multiplexed detection of biological agents' at this year's Bio-Sensing conference in Amsterdam on 10-12 October.
The presentation by Devaki Bhatta, Stratophase's head of biodetection, outlined the latest developments in bio-detection by utilising the company's Spectrosens optical microchip technology.
According to the company, by using light to measure changes the technology brings precision, flexibility and cost effectiveness to real-time monitoring and diagnostics.
Spectrosens microchip bio-detector is coated with antibodies that bind with high specificity and affinity to biological targets.
When a given toxin, bacteria or virus is present in the sample, it binds and triggers a positive detection.
One disposable Spectrosens microchip can be used to test multiple samples simultaneously, or several biological targets within a single sample.
