Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has announced the availability of a Lactate assay for its RAPIDPoint 500 system.
Lactate joins an assay menu that includes Blood Gas (pH, pCO2, pO2), Electrolytes (Na , K , Ca , Cl-), Metabolites (Glucose, nBili) and CO-oximetry (tHb, sO2, O2Hb, HHb, COHb, MetHb).
The RAPIDPoint 500 system harnesses established technology from Siemens to deliver rapid and accurate test results in approximately 60 seconds.
This allows clinicians to quickly gain diagnostic information for treatment planning. The Lactate assay further enhances the system’s functionality for clinicians relying on critical-care testing in, for example, Accident & Emergency departments or Intensive Care Units.

“Over 21,000 samples were run with zero cartridge failures attributable to the lactate sensor. Such results underpin the confidence we have in our cartridge based technology and the functionality it adds to the RAPIDPoint 500 System.”
