Editor's comment | Image analysis & microscopy web magazine
6 Jul 2015
We have launched the first issue in a new series of web magazines.
In the inaugural issue of Image Analysis & Microscopy we take a look at some of the most exciting breakthroughs currently being made throughout the imaging research community.
For instance, in the magazine’s main feature on page 5, we reveal the secret life of cells and how modern instrumentation is helping laboratory scientists uncover their closely guarded processes.
“Clearly, the imaging research community has a lot to shout about at the moment
Specifically, we take an in-depth look at the imaging of live cells - a technique that is affording researchers unprecedented access to minute biological environments.
What’s more, the feature on page 8 shines a spotlight on the emerging world of light sheet fluorescence microscopy. We reveal exactly where light sheet microscopy excels, and how it requires a complete paradigm shift in the way microscopy specialists conduct live imaging in 3D.
Being such a modern technique, we also explore some of the teething problems and find out whether the development of light sheet microscopy will win its inventor a Nobel Prize.
Clearly, the imaging research community has a lot to shout about at the moment. It is no surprise, therefore, that its experts are fundamental in revolutionising scientific discovery.
We hope you enjoy the magazine.
