University Hospital of Wales at Cardiff, one of the top university teaching hospitals, gets new haematology analysers and the first networked STV data management system in the UK
ABX Diagnostics reports that it has won the tender to supply haematology analysers to the University Hospital of Wales (UHW), one of the top three university teaching hospitals in the UK.
The Haematology Department at the UHW provides haematology services to the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust.
The Trust, the biggest in Wales, covers a population of 900,000 people and the Haematology Department analyses 250,000 samples per annum.
ABX won the tender against stiff opposition from other manufacturers and Cleve Wright, ABX's UK Manager, is delighted to have gained such a significant account: "We are all thrilled to have won such a prestigious tender and the key was that we offered a true partnership with the laboratory rather than just supplying analysers and reagents." ABX has supplied the UHW with three Pentra 120 Retic analysers and the first networked STV data management system in the UK.
Wright reports that "installation has gone smoothly and in-house training is currently well underway." The new system went live on Monday 12 August.
Staff at the UHW will have intensive analyser training courses to be held in Montpellier, France during the autumn, where they will also have the opportunity to visit ABX's new R and D facility.
