Fourth in series of microarray kits enables genome-wide screening of over 14,500 unique rat DNA sequences in a single microarray experiment on a standard 1 x 3" slide
Agilent Technologies Europe has announced the release of the fourth in its series of cDNA microarray kits.
The new kit is expected to provide pharmaceutical researchers with a reliable gene expression tool to study toxic side effects of new drugs much earlier in the drug discovery and development cycle, which could lead to personalised or safer therapies.
The Agilent Rat cDNA Microarray Kit (G4105A) features sequence-verified cDNA clones from Incyte Genomics.
Agilent's new Rat cDNA microarrays with SurePrint technology will allow researchers to conduct genome-wide screening of over 14,500 unique rat DNA sequences in a single microarray experiment.
SurePrint technology combines industrial-scale, highly precise inkjet printing and in-process quality control (QC) to produce microarrays with exceptional feature uniformity for consistent results from microarray-to-microarray, slide-to-slide, batch-to-batch.
Each convenient, ready-to-use kit contains four microarrays, hybridisation buffer, user protocol, and CD containing a complete listing of features that are present and hybridisable on the microarrays.
To ensure high-quality results, Agilent also provides an optional two-colour direct labelling kit that allows researchers to easily conduct studies on both test and control samples in a single microarray experiment.
This feature, combined with an available pre-microarray RNA sample integrity test using an Agilent 2100 bioanalyser system, helps reduce hands-on time and experimental variability associated with typical microarray processing.
"Until now, access to high-quality cDNA microarrays printed on 1" x 3" glass slides was next to impossible," said Barney Saunders, vice president and general manager of Agilent's BioResearch Solutions.
"By offering affordable, commercially available cDNA microarrays, we're allowing researchers to run genome-wide screening experiments both in their own labs, and across labs in large research consortium settings experiments using pre-qualified, laboratory-ready Agilent cDNA microarrays." Agilent's family of cDNA microarray kits all feature sequence-verified clones from Incyte Genomics, making it easy to identify clones of interest using Incyte's LifeSeq as well as other publicly-available databases.
Agilent cDNA microarrays are based on an industry-standard 1" x 3" glass slide microarray format which facilitates scanning on most commercial microarray scanners including Agilent's automated Microarray Scanner (G2565AA) with SureScan technology.
The Agilent Rat cDNA Microarray Kit (G4105A) is available now for commercial release in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan.
