Together with an existing kit, this set includes more than 36,000 genes and transcripts, providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive genome coverage commercially available
Agilent Technologies has introduced the Agilent Human 1B oligo microarray kit for gene expression analysis in drug discovery and disease research.
Together with the existing Agilent Human 1A oligo microarray kit, this comprehensive, two-microarray set includes more than 36,000 genes and transcripts, providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive genome coverage commercially available.
It is also the industry's first human 60-mer oligo microarray set available in standard 1"x3" glass slide format.
This product is the newest addition to Agilent's growing line of 60-mer oligonucleotide-based microarrays, which deliver up to eight times greater sensitivity than 25-mer formats.
Including this recent addition, Agilent has introduced six 60-mer microarray kits since October, and shipped more than 20,000 total microarrays in its second quarter. "We are proceeding rapidly with the expansion of our 60-mer microarray line, and its rising popularity has been reflected in the growth of our microarray revenue during the first and second quarters of 2003," said Barney Saunders, vice president and general manager of Agilent's BioResearch Solutions unit. "All of our customers have switched from the 25-mer to 60-mer format.
We believe we are rapidly gaining share in the microarray market due to the high sensitivity of our 60-mer microarrays, the flexibility of our printing technology, and the openness of our platform." Agilent's Human 1A and 1B microarrays are each designed with a customisable region with open feature spots that allows researchers to add their own proprietary information or newly identified genes.
Customised versions of these microarrays can be printed on demand with nearly the same convenience as ordering a standard catalogue microarray set.
The standard content on the Human 1B oligo microarray complements the existing Human 1A oligo microarray, which consists of probes for well-recognised genes from publicly available databases.
The Agilent Human 1B oligo microarray product includes 19,000 probes with a focus on rarer human genes obtained from Incyte's LifeSeq Foundation sequence database. Both microarrays contain comprehensive annotation, enabling customers to access information from public sequence databases or Incyte LifeSeq databases for additional bioinformatics data about the genes.
Agilent Human 1A oligo and 1B oligo microarrays are separately packaged, with five identical microarrays per kit.
A hybridisation protocol and CD with design files and annotation information is included.
To enhance the performance of Agilent's microarrays, researchers can choose from Agilent's complete line of sample QC, labelling, hybridisation and scanner products.
