Applied Biosystems has released the ABI Prism 6100 nucleic acid PrepStation for high throughput purification of RNA and DNA, taking only 30 minutes to isolate total RNA from cells
This latest addition to the ABI Prism range of instruments is reliable, economical and highly versatile, with the capacity to purify up to 96 samples of total RNA or genomic DNA from a variety of biological sources.
It is also fast, typically taking only 30 minutes to isolate total RNA from cells.
The 6100 PrepStation is designed to be a compact, stand-alone instrument that does not require a separate PC.
Several unique features ensure purity and consistency of the final product.
These include an integrated vacuum system based on a series of uniquely designed hardware features and newly developed chemistries to prevent cross-contamination, and programming of key processes so that researchers are able to create, edit and store up to 300 protocols using a simple graphical user interface.
Protocols developed for this instrument are also directly transferable to the ABI Prism 6700 automated nucleic acid workstation.
An integrated serial port connection supports future software upgrades and a liquid crystal display provides full, real-time details about each run.
This 6100 nucleic acid PrepStation would be ideal for any research, pharmaceutical or industrial laboratory routinely purifying DNA/ RNA from plant and animal tissue and RNA from cultured cells and whole blood.
