Running Lims software on a multi-tiered architecture based on the application server will bring particular benefits to assist laboratories with 21 CFR Part II regulatory requirements
Applied Biosystems has recently announced that it has chosen Oracle9i application server as the platform for its SQL*Lims software.
Oracle software has been an integral part of the SQL*Lims product since it was first released fifteen years ago,and now the latest Oracle9i application server is considered by Applied Biosystems to be the most complete and most adaptable system available for the life science environment.
SQL*Lims software is a comprehensive laboratory information management system which enables users to control sample tracking, laboratory processes and workflow, and to store and access data.
It is multilingual and offers excellent flexibility for organisational security, for example, across virtual and physical sites, for different projects or different classes of users.
Running SQL*Lims software on a multi-tiered architecture based on the Oracle9i application server will bring particular benefits to assist laboratories with stringent 21 CFR Part II regulatory requirements.
Intermediate layers of software for transferring input data to various instruments are no longer required and users will find it simpler to log in and to monitor laboratory results remotely.
The hand coding necessary for connecting Lims to enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) software has been eliminated, making the implementation process much less complicated.
In addition, Applied Biosystems has also developed a data-conversion program (in partnership with Labtronics ) called IDM-LimsLink that can be used in tandem with the Lims to capture data from third party laboratory equipment.
