Component allows hospital information systems to integrate with laboratory information management system to enable exchange of basic and more complex information
A new software component from the Applied Biosystems informatics division is proving a major success, particularly in clinical environments where it is seamlessly integrating different software applications with each other.
Hospital information systems (HIS) are widely used within hospitals and academic institutes to manage the overall hospital workflow and the new component HL7 (health level 7) allows these to integrate with the SQL Lims laboratory information management system (Lims) that manages complex laboratory workflows.
This new feature, combined with the scalability, flexibility and open architecture of the award winning SQL Lims, not only enables the exchange of basic patient information, such as name, sex and location etc, but also reports on information like financial details of tests performed in the diagnostic laboratory.
HL7 adds another key element to the accuracy, speed, ease of use and high level of security of SQL Lims.
