System of reagents and software allows researchers to conduct ultra high throughput genotyping on the latest generation of capillary electrophoresis sequencing systems at a very low cost
The new SNPlex system of reagents and software recently launched by Applied Biosystems allows researchers to conduct ultra high throughput genotyping on the latest generation of capillary electrophoresis sequencing systems at a very low cost.
The SNPlex genotyping system offers the life science industry a new degree of scalability, flexibility and cost effectiveness for genotyping projects.
It enables both large-scale, genomic discovery studies involving thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and smaller studies involving select SNPs for targeted research, using either standard or customised assay panels based on SNPs provided by the customer.
The first off-the-shelf assay, the Human Linkage Mapping set, is already available with others following soon.
This novel system uses multiplexing (multiple reactions in a single tube or well) on the Applied Biosystems 3730xl and 3730 DNA analysers to genotype as many as 48 SNPs simultaneously in a single sample and detect 4500 SNPs in parallel in as little as 15 minutes.
The 24-hour capacity of the SNPlex system is already in excess of 400,000 genotypes.
