New faster and more eficient colony counter given official launch to representatives of PHLS and the food industry
Microbiology specialist Don Whitley Scientific launched its new Acolyte colony counter at a well-attended meeting on 21 March at its headquarters in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
Key representatives from the Public Health Laboratory Service and the food industry were introduced to the exciting new system which offers significant advantages over existing counters.
Complementing Don Whitley1s successful range of semi-automated systems for the microbiology laboratory, the Acolyte provides rapid, efficient colony counts from spread plates and pour plates.
A dedicated version for spiral plates is also available.
Fast and easy to use with sophisticated image analysis and data handling, the system introduces huge time savings and significantly improves efficiency in any laboratory.
With a compact, modern design Acolyte is fun to use and easy to learn.
Simply plug into your existing PC, load the software and start counting - an onscreen wizard takes you through the motions.
In 'click and count' mode up to four colonies per second are counted - just point and click for instant logging.
Results are transferred instantly and full colour images of each plate are displayed and also stored for future reference.
For a higher throughput, customers can upgrade to the Supercount version of Acolyte which provides instant, fully automatic detection of up to 500 colonies per second - 100 times faster than manual methods.
DonWhitley Scientific offers an extensive range of semi-automated systems for microbiology and provides comprehensive after sales, application and service support.
