Amersham Biosciences and Geneva Bioinformatics will provide researchers with what they describe as the next generation of 2-D gel image analysis tools for proteomics research
Amersham Biosciences and Geneva Bioinformatics have signed an exclusive agreement to provide researchers with what they describe as the next generation of 2-D gel image analysis tools for proteomics research.
This collaboration will entail the complete integration of the Melanie 2-D gel analysis software, developed by the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), into the ImageMaster image analysis software platform from Amersham Biosciences.
The new version of ImageMaster, incorporating Melanie, will help to address the current critical bottlenecks of image analysis in proteomics research, by enhancing the speed and accuracy of the software and generating statistically accurate and pertinent results.
This integrated 2-D image analysis software will be available from Amersham Biosciences with the new release of ImageMaster.
Nasri Nahas, CEO of GeneBio, said: "The integration of Melanie into the ImageMaster platform is an exciting opportunity for GeneBio and the SIB to continue our active participation in the development and evolution of the next generation in 2-D image analysis software".
"We believe that this collaboration with Amersham Biosciences will permit us to jointly define further developments and opportunities in this arena".
Future imaging software will be collaboratively developed.
Alan Livingston, marketing director of proteomics at Amersham Biosciences commented: "This partnership demonstrates both companies' commitment to the field of 2-D image analysis and will enable Amersham Biosciences to build on the tremendous expertise GeneBio and the SIB have in the proteomics application area, and especially in proteomics analysis software and databases".
"The new version of ImageMaster will enable proteomics researchers to generate high quality biological data quickly and reliably".
This agreement expands the strategic alliance between the two companies signed in January 2003 to develop and distribute novel proteomics analysis software, databases and training tools.
