For high precision temperature in the medical and instrumentation markets where temperature sensors are widely used inside the body to measure or control temperature
Betatherm announces the market introduction of the advanced tthermistor range - one of the smallest and most accurate thermistors available today.
Targeted for high precision temperature requirements, the MCD (micro beta-chip probe) is of benefit across a wide number of segments in the medical and instrumentation markets where temperature sensors are widely used inside the body to measure or control temperature, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions along with areas such as liquid level sensing, air/gas flow monitoring and chemical analysis.
Made possible as a result of advancements in the construction of the thermistor chip, the MCD sensors come with a minimum thermistor bead size of 0.38mm OD (outer diameter).
Accuracies of +/-0.05C are achievable at a single temperature point (Example: 37C) while over a broader range +/-0.1C are typical.
The MCD package comes with a specified time response of 200 milliseconds.
This sensitivity is facilitated by the innovative design of the thermistor probe where the NTC chip is potted in an epoxy filled polyimide tube, thus enabling the optimum balance between environmental protection and thermal conductivity.
Typical dissipation constants of 0.3mW/C at 25/C are available across the MCD range.
Finally, one of the main advantages of the MCD range is its flexibility.
Its design allows for the customisation of accuracies and probe constructions to suit a wide range of precision applications.
