Low temperature residue-free hydrogen peroxide vapour technology used to bio-decontaminate safety cabinets, incubators, and a wide range of laboratory equipment
Following the introduction of Bioquell's Clarus S portable hydrogen peroxide bio-decontamination equipment, the company says its equipment bio-decontamination service (EBDS) is now even faster, simpler and more cost effective.
EBDS uses patented low temperature residue-free hydrogen peroxide vapour technology to bio-decontaminate biological safety cabinets, CO2 incubators, pass through chambers, isolators, robotics, and a wide range of laboratory equipment.
Following the recent upgrading of formaldehyde to a category 1 known human carcinogen by the World Health Organisation's international agency for research into cancer, demand for EBDS has been growing.
For the first time, it says, there is a real alternative to formaldehyde, which is effective, faster and above all safer.
Key advantages of EBDS health and safety.
Eliminates the need to use formaldehyde - a confirmed carcinogen, with all the associated health and safety issues.
Has excellent and proven efficacy against a broad range of bacteria (including spores), viruses and fungi.
EBDS technology ensures the equipment remains at negative pressure preventing the leakage of any vapour into the laboratory. Hydrogen peroxide vapour is catalytically converted to water and oxygen at the end of the process - hence no residues to affect research or sensitise employees.
No need to close the laboratory - EBDS can take place safely while work in the lab continues. Allows the use of re-circulating safety cabinets - with consequential energy cost savings and the avoidance of expensive ductwork installations.
First rate material compatibility - no damage to electronics or other sensitive equipment.
EBDS is said to be significantly faster (and safer) than formaldehyde. Bioquell service personnel can carry out the EBDS and service the equipment in a single visit.
Bioquell says demand has also been growing for its emergency bio-decontamination service.
With no requirement to evacuate rooms or laboratories, the emergency equipment bio-decontamination service helps customers out of tight spots in a timely fashion.
