Borolabs awards new-technology Labcold storage unit to replace the oldest known blood bank in the UK - a 40-year-old item at Great Ormond Street Hospital
Borolabs announces that the winner of its 'Find the oldest blood bank in use in the UK' competition is Helen Nulty at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The current blood bank has been verified as being over 40 years old and has given sterling service to the hospital.
Helen will receive the new portable Labcold blood bank from Borolabs.
The prize will be used by personnel at Great Ormond Street to take blood samples to hold blood for treating patients under palliative care.
The new portable Labcold blood bank incorporates advanced insulation technology, developed for NASA, for the temporary storage and reliable transfer of blood products.
This unit is ideal for emergency use at remote sites or home treatment.
It is light weight, easy to clean, operates from 12 volt DC or mains power, and the temperature control complies fully with BS4376 (1991) Part 1.
