Significant increases in demand during the final quarter of 2003 for internet and telephone-based clinical trial management solutions
Clinical technology organisation ClinPhone has reported significant increases in demand during the final quarter of 2003 for its internet and telephone-based clinical trial management solutions.
Figures for the fourth quarter of the year put the company well ahead of the same period for 2002, with a record backlog of new business heading into 2004.
"We have seen increased demand across the board for our traditional interactive voice response services but also for electronic patient diaries, clinical assessments, MedSim and electronic data capture integration projects," explained vice president and general manager Howard Goldberg.
"Our health is directly related to research and development spending by the pharma and biotech industries.
"These industries traditionally continue to spend on R and D even in lean economic times to maintain a full pipeline of new products.
"Our growing reputation in the industry, our new products and services and the general wave of optimism for the economy is stimulating some very impressive levels of business".
The head count in the United States has risen by over 30% during the past year with staff levels increasing significantly since December.
In recent weeks 13 new staff have joined the team at Princeton with additional hiring taking place at ClinPhone's Chicago office.

It counts the majority of pharma and biotech companies as clients including preferred supplier agreements with 15 top tier companies.
The company has supported over 1000 clinical trials (of which more than 300 are currently active) in over 80 countries and almost 70 languages.
Finally, its system is the most robust and advanced in the industry handling up to 90,000 calls per month.
In addition to the Princeton facility, the company has US offices in Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco.
European facilities are located in Brussels and Heidelberg, with corporate headquarters in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
