Component spectrum analyser system characterises devices such as fibre bragg gratings, splitters, polarisation beam combiners, and band separators in the 940-1000nm wavelength range
DBM Optics has introduced its model 2004/3112 980nm component spectrum analyser system.
This system characterises devices from 940-1000nm.
Typical components in this wavelength range include fibre bragg gratings, splitters, polarisation beam combiners, and band separators.
The model 2004, coupled with the model 3112, tests multiple fibre types - including PM aligned components. Until this release, DBM says there were no component spectrum analysers available in this wavelength range and none available that could test multiple fibre types.
The wavelength range to be tested can often be optimised for the specific device under test within the DBM Optics 2004/3112 system.
With tunable laser sources available at 940-980nm and 960-1000nm - and with sources available ranging from 1260-1650 nm - a complete, customised test system can be created.
By using its proprietary power reference feature, the 2004 automatically corrects for laser source output variation.
Traditionally, referencing has been problematic at these wavelengths.
The 2004 has overcome these issues to provide very stable and repeatable insertion loss results.
In addition, by using its unique automatic gas cell correction, laser source wavelength errors are virtually eliminated - providing wavelength accuracy of 5pm.
The DBM Optics 2004 measures at 100,000 readings per second.
This allows both fast power-vs-wavelength characterisation and dynamic characterisation for fast-responding components.
The instrument can be operated from the front panel or remotely from GPIB, RS-232, or over an ethernet network. Software tools make remote operation fast and simple - including LabView drivers and separate network-based tools.
