Most products are compounds or mixtures of individual chemical components, the law requires that these be listed on the data sheet along with the concentration level of each chemical component
Environmental Science is set to make the first 1500 Chip3 compliant safety data sheets, (from its pool of 4000+ SDSs), available from the web.
The system will go live from September this year for a subscription price of just £149.00 per quarter. "This is a breakthrough", said Sam Awolesi.
"We constantly get requests for data sheets for named products of third parties.
"We obviously can't write or supply these for all kinds of technical and legal reasons.
"This new approach however, not only enables SHE managers and professionals to check their own sheets, but also those from their suppliers as well.
"We're now also developing additional freely downloadable software tools to help our subscribers do that more efficiently".
More data sheets and updates will be added to the list each quarter.
Although there are no current limits to downloads, subscribers wishing to retain the whole library are strongly encouraged to request the CD-Rom for a small fee.
Most products are compounds or mixtures of individual chemical components, the law requires that these be listed on the data sheet along with, the concentration level of each chemical component.
In many cases, the inclusion of only one or two of these individual components results in a classification under Chip of the whole product as being harmful (for example: Toxic; T, or Highly Flammable; F).
The ESL data sheet library has around 92% of the chemical components used in most common products, so it's easy to verify hazard levels in all kinds of product data sheets.
