Advice and guidance to laboratories (and other organisations) dealing with the analysis of drinking waters has been published by the Standing Committee of Analysts (SCA), based within the Environment Agency.
A series of documents 'Methods for the examination of waters and associated materials' - is available free of charge to download from the agency's website.
Copies are also available via the British Library's document supply service.
The latest draft in the series (part 6 of a 10-part series) revising former advice on the analysis of drinking waters deals specifically with the determination of sulphite-reducing clostridia and Clostridium perfringens and is an update on the 2002 edition.
These documents are recommended by the Drinking Water Inspectorate as methods to be used for drinking water compliance purposes.
