Sabine Brunger-Weilandt succeeds Georg Friedrich Schultheiss as managing director of European provider of information services from 1 May 2003
Fiz Karlsruhe, one of the leading European providers of information services as well as the European partner of STN International, the premier science and technology online service, has announced that from 1 May 2003 its new managing director will be Sabine Brunger-Weilandt.
Ms Brunger-Weilandt, aged 45, was appointed in November 2002 by the shareholders of Fiz Karlsruhe to succeed Professor Dr Ing Georg Friedrich Schultheiss, who will retire at the end of April.
A management and marketing expert, Ms.
Brunger-Weilandt brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new post.
She has held senior positions in the marketing and communication departments of major international organisations, and worked as a consultant for leading corporations in Germany.
Ms Brunger-Weilandt's first contact with the information sector was in the early eighties, when she helped to install the first database-supported information and documentation system in the documentation centre of the Deutsche Bank.
Then, in 1985, she took over as head of sales of the Frankfurt/Main branch office of the Handelsblatt publishing house, where she was responsible for the Genios databases.
In 1989, Ms Brunger-Weilandt became director of the Assekuranz Database, a service provider specialised on insurance information.
After working as a senior consultant for Mummert Consulting, Hamburg, she spent four years with Greenpeace Germany.
As a member of the managing board she was in charge of the communications and service department.
In 2000, Ms Brunger-Weilandt became head of strategic consulting for Proximity, the customer relationship focussed subsidiary of the BBDO/Omnicon group, before setting up her own independent consultancy in 2002.
