Today, many drug discovery chemists seek to purify compounds by adsorbing a mixture of compounds on a small amount of silica and 'dry-load' the mixture onto a column prior to chromatography.
The classical method of adsorbing compounds onto silica in a round-bottomed flask and then removing solvent using a rotary evaporator is limited by its slow throughput, lack of automation and loss of sample due to 'bumping'.
The new technical report details how centrifugal evaporation technology successfully addresses each of these issues to provide an attractive automated alternative method for dry loading samples prior to chromatography.
In addition the technology offers similar benefits for work-up of parallel synthesis reactions, where it offers a combinatorial method of dry loading to streamline the parallel purification process.
