Nonlinear Dynamics and GenoLogics Life Sciences Software announce partnership for integrated protein informatics solution
Nonlinear Dynamics and GenoLogics Life Sciences Software, have entered into a global partnership agreement.
The agreement lays the groundwork for the two companies to work towards a fully integrated protein informatics solution.
The integrated offering will represent a unique combination of technologies within the proteomics market.
John Spreadbury, sales and marketing director of Nonlinear Dynamics and CEO, Nonlinear USA, explained: "Nonlinear Dynamics is well established as the world leader in image analysis solutions for 2D gels.
"We have been expanding our scope with the Pro range of protein informatics products, offering solutions to store, manage and mine data from many elements of the proteomics workflow.
"However we have consciously maintained this as distinct from a Lims system. "By bringing together our image analysis and data mining expertise with the respected Lims of GenoLogics, we are offering the ultimate protein informatics solution for the proteomics laboratory".
Nonlinear Dynamics says it has been collaborating for some time with various customers, developing a system to streamline and integrate the data flow from sample collection and preparation, through 2D gels, spot picking and mass spectrometry.
The resulting product, ProMS, comprises various modules for 2D gel based sample and experimental data entry, mining stored analysis results and linking MS-based protein identities to 2D gel based data.
These application-based modules can be used in sequence to match existing proteomics workflows using a single shared database to transfer results between research interfaces.
Meanwhile GenoLogics has produced a highly intuitive, domain driven proteomics-based laboratory information management system, ProteusLims.
ProteusLims can be broken down into two main functional areas: lab management and proteomic scientific data management.
The lab management components track samples, projects, clients, tasks, and employees.
Its purpose is to enable labs to run smoothly and effectively.
The other functional group of ProteusLims is scientific data management.
Instruments, containers, public databases, techniques, and the many other aspects of gels, mass spec, and protein searching are all handled.
Michael Ball, CEO of GenoLogics, said: "By integrating our ProteusLims within Nonlinear's product offerings, we will be delivering a formidable combination.
"Incorporating the real time flexible process tracking and easy to use interface of our Lims with the powerful analytics of Nonlinear's data-mining and MS-based protein identification tools will represent a single software source for researchers.
"Because of its flexible structure, the system will also be able to evolve over time to incorporate the implementation of multiple data sources from other 'omics technologies, making it an ideal long term solution".
Will Dracup, group CEO of Nonlinear Dynamics, added: "By working together, Nonlinear and GenoLogics can both bring our areas of expertise to the table to fast track effective solutions to market.
"GenoLogics have a very similar development culture to Nonlinear, even down to a similar style of interface design, so we are looking forward very much to our continued collaboration.
"We already have a number of third parties looking at our joint development pipeline, and as such are very confident that the effects of this collaboration will have a major impact within the proteomics laboratory over the coming years."
