Guava Technologies has announced the appointment of Phillip Vorwald as vice president, worldwide sales
Phillip Vorwald joins Guava with over 20 years experience in high growth cell-biology life science businesses in North America, Europe and Asia/Pacific.
Recently he served as managing director, Delphi Medical Systems and before that, held several senior-level positions at Becton Dickinson Biosciences as vice president, business operations for Europe/Middle East, Asia/Pacific/Latin America and in Strategic Planning in the United States. "Phil has an exceptional track record of achievement. "He has experience in the very fast growing cell biology market for life science research and diagnostics in five continents around the world," said Rajen Dalal, president and chief executive officer of Guava Technologies.
"At Guava, he will find new creative outlets for his experience where he will have an opportunity to build and expand new markets for cell analysis in decentralised locations by commercialising the popular Guava cell analysis systems".
While at BD Biosciences, Vorwald spent nearly ten years in Europe, and was vice president, business operations for all of Europe and the Middle East, where he grew the business into a powerful cell analysis and diagnostics franchise exceeding $100 million in revenues.
Subsequently he became vice president for Asia-Pacific and Latin America where he managed the total P and L and grew the business at a high double digit compounded annual growth rate. Vorwald also has had considerable experience in North America, joining BD Biosciences in the United States as a sales account representative and rapidly advancing through a series of increasingly responsible positions.
In his final role at BD, as vice president, strategic planning, he developed long range plans for the company's business including the clinical and life sciences divisions.
After leaving BD Biosciences, Vorwald joined Delphi Automotive, where he was charged with creating a new medical systems division and served as that division's managing director.
He holds a MS degree from the Medical College of Virginia and a BS degree from the Catholic University in Washington DC.
