Reducing the strain on strain gauge solder terminals to improve useability and remove a potential source of measurement error
HBM has introduced large strain relief solder tabs on its latest generation of strain gauges to reduce installation time because it is no longer necessary to separately fit solder terminals for strain gauges with leads.
The integrated strain relief soldering points make it easy to solder on the connecting cables while the design prevents force from being applied to the strain gauge through the cables.
This removes a potential source of measurement error that can happen when the force is transmitted to the strain gauge.
In some measurement tests the force can snap off the strain gauge leading to further possible inaccuracies. Vast numbers of strain gauges are used in experimental stress analysis and in transducer construction demanding different configurations.
To meet this challenge, HBM makes strain gauges with a large number of different connection configurations that are easy to handle and easy to connect to the cables.
