A new manually operated fixture from Indentec enables the company's standard Rockwell hardness testers to carry out Jominy hardenability tests as precisely as machines equipped with more costly mechanized drives.
It provides a digital display of linear movement switchable between Imperial and metric to a measuring resolution of 0.01mm and 0.0005 inch.
This means that individual Jominy test indentations can be positioned with the same accuracy as that obtainable with a stepper motor drive system.
Indentec says the fixture is ideal for production Jominy testing where built in data processing is not required.
It will also appeal to users with occasional needs for Jominy testing. One of these fixtures has been supplied to a Turkish standards authority as part of a multi purpose hardness testing system combining Jominy testing with conventional hardness testing to Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell scales.
