Light thermostats are more efficient than standard cooled incubators where high lighting intensities are required and associated temperature rise is undesirable
The Rumed series 1000 light thermostats, available through Jencons-PLS, are ideal for plant growth and seed germination experiments.
They are more efficient than standard cooled incubators where high lighting intensities are required and associated temperature rise is undesirable.
The featured models are constructed of stainless steel with plastic-laminated wire shelves.
Variation in temperature within the cabinets is virtually eliminated due to the low mass of the heater.
It is situated directly in front of the recirculating fan which, along with the solid-state relay, allows for extremely accurate and precise temperature control.
Double-glazing between the chamber and lighting unit prevents undesirable heat dissipation.
Thus the temperature in the cabinet can be kept constant with low energy consumption.
Units with lighting from above (suitable for tall plants) and from both sides are available.
For plants requiring particularly high levels of lighting, the cabinets can be equipped with metal halide vapour discharge lamps.
Maximum luminance values up to 800uE/m2 (approximately 40,000 lux) can be attained.
Extremely precise temperature and lighting control can be achieved within the cabinet with optional timers and dimmers. For those applications where exact control of humidity is not required a tray of water, placed on the bottom of the cabinet, is suitable.
Alternatively, an ultrasonic humidifier, connected to a demineralised water supply, is available.
The humidity can be controlled accurately using an electronic controller.
If low humidity levels are required a dehumidifier would be desirable (in addition to the ultrasonic humidifier).
Jencons-PLS will offer advice on the best plant growth cabinet to suit specific requirements.
