Or both - instrument is said to be the only Raman spectrometer system of its kind which incorporates an integral full inverted optical microscope
Jobin Yvon has announced the launch of its new high resolution inverted microscope system, the LabRam INV800.
The LabRam INV format is the only Raman spectrometer system of its kind which incorporates an integral full inverted optical microscope.
The instrument enables the highly specific spectral Raman analysis to be coupled with the fluorescence imaging techniques routinely used in biochemical and life science applications where the inverted microscope is used for its capabilities for sample handling and micromanipulation.
It provides true confocal Raman micro-spectroscopy enabling very high spatial discrimination down to the micron scale and characterisation of the chemical and often physical properties of the sample.
The INV800 format has both extended and ultra high spectroscopic resolution modes.
The extended resolution mode provides broad wavelength coverage suitable for fluorescence mapping, while the high resolution mode produces typically three times that available from a conventional instrument and is ideal for the interrogation of subtle bonding effects such as crystallinity and phase, polymorphism and chemical environment.
The instrument also offers the capability for the expansion to incorporate dual detector options such that spectroscopic measurements may be extended into the NIR (to ~1600nm) important for many biological samples where visible range analysis may be less appropriate.
