Dual interferometer for Corning Tropel marks first commercial success for new optics-based instrument company
Lumetrics has signed a deal with Corning Tropel to provide a dual interferometer.
This device will assist in manufacturing metrology and instrumentation at Corning Tropel.
"It is exciting for our company to be working with Corning Tropel on this programme," said John Hart, president and CEO of Lumetrics.
"We are looking forward to demonstrating the increased accuracy and precision that can be achieved in the optical measurement arena with the dual interferometer".
The sale to Corning Tropel is significant for Lumetrics.
The company employs 12 people, and anticipates future growth.
The measurements taken by the dual interferometer are extremely precise, calculated in microns (a strand of hair can be as small as 17 microns).
Such precision ensures accuracy in the measurement and collection of data.
One dual interferometer unit typically costs $75,000-100,000.
