Device uses the most advanced technology for simple, repeatable, and accurate measurement of particle size, zeta potential, and molecular weight of molecules and nano-sized particles
Malvern Instruments's new Zetasizer Nano series combines the best technologies to simplify the measurement of particle size, zeta potential, and molecular weight of molecules and nano-sized particles.
Features include full regulatory compliance and the ability to measure high concentrations and particle sizes below 1nm in diameter.
The Zetasizer Nano series uses the most advanced technology available for the simplest, most repeatable and accurate measurement of particle size, zeta potential and molecular weight of molecules and nano-sized particles.
The series includes the Nano-ZS for measurement of all three parameters, the Nano-S for combined particle size and molecular weight and the Nano-Z for applications requiring only zeta potential measurement.
In developing the Zetasizer Nano series, Malvern Instruments has combined the best technological solutions for the measurement of each parameter in a compact, fully automated and highly versatile unit, without any performance compromises.
The use of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to control the measurement process ensures optimum performance and excellent repeatability between operators.
The Zetasizer Nano series has been designed for exceptional ease of use, and features the first ever entirely disposable cell for zeta potential measurement.
Although reusable, the cell is a low enough cost to be replaced regularly, removing the risk of cross-contamination and eliminating cell cleaning.
It uses M3-Pals technology for zeta potential measurement.
This is a second-generation implementation of phase analysis light scattering combined with Malvern's patented M3 measurement technology, which provides the highest accuracy over a wide range of applications and allows full automation of the measurement process.
Simply clicking the cell containing the sample into the cell holder enables a complete size and zeta potential measurement to be made using a single SOP.
The use of Nibs (non invasive back scatter) technology enables particle size measurement at the high sensitivity necessary for small and poorly scattering molecules, such as proteins and polymers.
It also allows measurement at high concentrations of up to 20%w/v, so that samples including emulsions, pigments and toners require little or no dilution.
The Zetasizer Nano-S and Nano-ZS measure particle size in the range 0.6nm to 6micron diameter, using as little as 12µl of sample, making it possible to conserve scarce or precious materials.
Measurement of absolute molecular weight using the classical Debye plot is supported by a standard operating procedure that guides the user, and can be completely automated using the new MPT-2 autotitrator.
The MPT-2 autotitrator also automates the titration of pH, conductivity or other additives as a function of particle size and zeta potential.
Determination of the effect of changes in these parameters is often necessary, as measurements under a single set of conditions rarely provide sufficient information for sample characterisation.
A titration requires less than 3ml of sample, and as well as the cell, all tubing in the flow path is fully disposable.
The software package is fully validated.
It encompasses the recommendations of the ISO 13321 standard and allows users to meet FDA requirements for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
As well as the standard package that covers all the requirements of routine operation, there is an additional option for applications requiring advanced data manipulation.
