Brushless DC motor provides speed range of 500 to 4000rpm resulting in pumping capacities of 10ml/min up to 2.5 lit/min and differential pressures to 5barG
A recent addition to the established Micropump range of gear pumps and drives is the 380 brushless DC motor providing a speed range of 500 to 4000rpm, resulting in pumping capacities of 10ml/min up to 2.5 lit/min and differential pressures to 5barG. As with all Micropump magnetically driven pump/motor combinations, the important features of this drive option are quiet, sealless, leak-free pumping, so it is ideal for metering and dosing applications in the OEM, laboratory and pharmaceutical industries.
Available through Michael Smith Engineers, this new drive option is designed to accept the standard Micropump 'A' mount pumps, which covers the 180 (GA), 120 (GJ) and 200 (GB) series.
This new drive option benefits from a brushless design which eliminates the need for frequent and costly maintenance and contributes to a MTBF (mean time before failure) service life greater than 50,000 hours.
The drive has an IP55 enclosure rating which permits installation in washdown locations or when the motor housing will be exposed to corrosive fumes.
The drive can be mounted using the standard foot bracket provided.
Alternatively, it can be installed through a bulkhead or control panel door as the mounting flange incorporates an O-ring groove which enables the drive to be sealed away from the pump.
This option prevents the ingress of water etc, into the control panel.
The 0 to 5VDC speed control maintains speed across the entire torque range of the drive and when combined with a positive displacement gear pump, the speed control feature can be used to extend the useful life of the pump by increasing speed to compensate for pump wear.
