Nickel Electro, manufacturer of laboratory, medical and clinical equipment including water baths, hotplates, stirrers, and centrifuges, is celebrating its 60th anniversary next month
From a sole trader, Nickel Electro became incorporated in 1941 and since 1962 it has been a family-run business.
Originally specialising in metal spinning, stampings and machinery, it now manufactures a variety of temperature control equipment for the laboratory supply industry including water baths, hotplates, stirrers, and centrifuges and is the major manufacturer of spatulas and tongs in the UK.
Nickel Electro supplies products to a wide variety of market sectors including hospitals, secondary and higher education, the food and dairy industry, veterinarians, pharmaceutical companies, industrial and quality control laboratories in the UK and worldwide.
In 1989, Nickel Electro introduced the Clifton range of temperature control equipment.
It was named after Bristol's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge in recognition of Brunel's engineering excellence, which is carried through in the production of the Clifton range today. Nickel Electro was one of the first manufacturers in their field to be awarded the prestigious BS9001 accreditation in 1991 and is currently working towards Investors in People.
Nickel Electro owes its success to a loyal and dedicated workforce.
The company's longest serving staff member, John Towler, joined the firm in 1965 followed closely by Mary Hardeman, who joined in 1969.
As well as John and Mary, four other members of staff can claim over 25 years service each.
Proud of their past achievements, but always looking to the future, Nickel Electro has embarked on a campaign to increase market share both at home and abroad.
A recently published catalogue and updated website highlights the latest additions to the company's product range.
Managing director Melvin Dickson said, "We continue to invest in the latest manufacturing techniques to ensure a healthy future for the company and the workforce.
We are proud of our success".
