New product for routine and research cytogenetic applications should accelerate throughput in the karyotyping of animals and plants
Genikon is an all-new system primed for use specifically in the routine and research cytogenetic laboratory.
It is described as offering the chance to speed up throughput, while redefining expectations in terms of resolution, accuracy and precision, making applications of this nature easier and intuitive.
The workstation is based around Nikon's microscope range, and enables the karyotyping of humans, other animals, and plants.
It is also possible to perform automated Fish analyses.
An array of filter wheels can be incorporated in the Eclipse microscope range to allow chromosome recognition and separation.
The workstation can, reportedly, be configured to suit all needs and budgets, as the software packages are modular, but interlaced.
A range of cameras are available, in monochrome, high-resolution monochrome digital, colour and cooled black and white.
The modules currently available are: Manual/automated karyotyping - highly accurate, trainable, automatic separation of single and multiple overlapping chromosomes, post-separation processing, counting; image editing, ideogram comparison.
Manual/automated Fish - can be integrated with bright-field images, manual/automated filter selection, personalised filter lists with computer memorised offset integration times and assigned colours, simple thresholding to ease identification of ROIs (regions of interest).
Archiving - storage of metaphase spread, karyotype and Fish for each case; creation of sub-folders; multiple slide viewing; Customise your own completely personalised database, with parameters of your choice; database filter function; customised printable report layout.
Acquisition - an automatic offset control of camera means auto focus of live images, fusion of images from a single metaphase, creation of multiple file types or saving and/or export including Jpeg, Tiff and BMP' the ability to import images from other packages and creating a karyotype.
