Advanced motorised biological research microscope for automated observation and digital imaging is adaptable to all multi dimensional imaging techniques
The Eclipse 90i, a new addition to Nikon's I-series microscopes, is an advanced, fully automated biological research microscope optimised for digital image capture.
When used in combination with Nikon's Digital Sight series digital cameras or C1 system the 90i is a totally automated microscopy/imaging system.
A modular design and a wealth of motorised attachments and accessories enable the 90i to be readily adaptable to all multi dimensional imaging (MDi) techniques including fluorescence, time-lapse, DIC, confocal, Flim or Fret.
Additionally, when capturing images the 90i records all microscope settings such as magnification, aperture, Z positioning etc which are then attached to the image file enabling scientists to reproduce imaging settings for future observations.
Captured images can be easily transferred to a PC via a network function.
Almost all microscope operations are motorised and integrated for seamless operation.
When changing objectives, for example, associated settings such as field diaphragm, light intensity, speed of stage travel, focusing speed and other parameters are automatically adjusted for optimum observations.
Even complex procedures such as changing from DIC to epi-fluorescence, can be carried out at a touch of a button. Setting preferences can also be saved for individual users and recalled at any time.
Nikon's new DIH-E digital imaging head has been designed specifically for automated image capture with motorised optical path switching, epi-fluorescence filter, cube-switching, excitation light shutter, epi-fluorescence field diaphragm, optical zoom and analyser.
The DIH-E also combines Hi S/N universal epi-fluorescence illuminator, binocular tube, dual imaging ports and optical zoom in a single unit producing brighter, higher contrast fluorescence images.
The 90i also boasts all the advanced features common to all i-series microscopes, including Nikon's new CFI60 Plan Apo VC series of objectives and revolutionary fly-eye lens array providing an even intensity of light satisfying the strict requirements for compatibility with digital cameras.
Also, a new fluorescence epi-iIluminator with six-position turret using the Hi S/N Noise Terminator greatly improves signal-to-noise ratios, providing bright, stunning, high-contrast, crisp fluorescent images.
