Newage Testing Instruments has released Version 4 of Cams, computer assisted measurement system for microhardness testers. This latest release includes improvements in traverse operations, interface, and a new graphic test mode.
A new traverse function now enables the operator to perform a dry run in conjunction with any of the user-created traverse setups.
Using the dry run the operator can preview the actual test positions to ensure that they occur in suitable locations.
There are two new related capabilities in Cams v4 - manual or automatic acceptance of tests and auto retesting.
The manual test acceptance mode allows the operator to validate each result as it occurs.
The retest mode allows the operator to select any particular test location, offset the position by a suitable increment and perform another test.
The new test result is then incorporated in to the database in the place of the first result.
The changes to the interface include colour-coded tolerance displays, new onscreen table motion and focus controls, and a new selectable full-screen mode that permits a wider view of the test specimen while performing most of the test functions.
A new test mode, termed the graphic mode, is similar to the traverse mode.
However, using this mode the operator is able to enter test locations at any position across the face of a test sample along with reference points that are used to position the test parts during setup and to provide a picture of the part on the reports.
After a graphic mode traverse test sequence has been executed, the report will show all the test and reference positions diagrammed in their locations along with test results.
Traverse graphing is also available in the graphic mode.
