Visitors to the IBMS (Institute of Biomedical Scientists) Congress at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham, UK, 29 September - 1 October will find the Oxoid team demonstrating the latest additions to the company's range and discussing the use of these products in the clinical laboratory.
The DuPont Qualicon RiboPrinter microbial characterisation system will be on show.
The RiboPrinter provides an automated genetic fingerprint (RiboPrint pattern) of any bacterium in less than 8 hours and enables similarities and subtle differences between bacteria to be detected to aid in epidemiological studies.
The system allows users to share data electronically, enabling them to take full advantage of the inherent reproducibility of RiboPrint pattern data.
Oxoid is the exclusive distributor for the DuPont Qualicon range in Europe and Australia.
Aura Image will also on show.
Aura Image is a powerful tool for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), incorporating an innovative image analysis system for accurate, automatic zone size measurement, plate barcode reader, automatic disc recognition, interpretative database and epidemiology package.
The system can be interfaced with a Lims, and many users are now finding that, in addition to enhancing their AST testing, Aura Image provides an invaluable tool in infection control management, monitoring and trend reporting. Oxoid sponsors the campylobacter microbiology sessions at this year's conference, and its AGS range of products for the detection of campylobacter will also be on show.
Oxoid is on stand 704 at the IBMS Congress.
